SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 16
DESCRIPTION:The purposes of this webinar are attempted to stimulate thoughts on: \n• Observing binding love as a phenomenon in the collective culture \n• The Chinese culture of the Confucius family system amplifies binding love \n• The archetypal nature of binding love in the collective structure \n• Clinical presentations resulted from binding love• Possible resolutions for individuation. \nHopefully\, as HKIAP is growing with more local analysts\, together we can indigenize and integrate Jung’s analytical psychology more into our own Chinese culture and perhaps find out unique ways of individuation for the locals.  \nDr. Marie Chiu \nDr. Marie Chiu is a clinical psychologist and a Jungian Analyst for children\, adolescents and adults graduated from the C. G. Jung Institute Zurich’s combined program. She used to work in NGO for many years before having her private practice. She experienced classical Freudian analysis for 5 years and attended the Freudian infant analysis before initiating the first Jungian infant observation group in Hong Kong\, which was completed by the end of 2018. She served HKIAP since 2012 in various posts as honorary treasurer\, secretary\, vice-president and director. She is the chairperson elected for HKIAP from April 1\, 2022. SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 15
DESCRIPTION:The seminar will be focused on Michael Fordham’s contributions to the technique and practice of Analytical Psychology. \nDr. Feldman will present his own experience working with Fordham over a 10-year period in London\, and the impact that it had upon his own practice of child\, adolescent and adult analysis. Fordham often stated that the experience of infant observation was of paramount importance for the development of an analytical attitude towards working with infantile/primitive mental states and early attachment trauma. \nHe developed the idea of the syntonic countertransference as a fundamental way in which we understand early pre-verbal states of mind. This involves the analyst’s use of their countertransference in the intersubjective matrix of analysis as a means of understanding these early states of mind and affect in the analysand. \nDr. Brian Feldman \nDr. Feldman is certified in child\, adolescent and adult Jungian psychoanalysis and graduated from the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. He obtained additional training at the Society of Analytical Psychology\, London\, where he trained in the developmental Jungian tradition with Michael Fordham and Judith Hubback. His experience in London led him to the intensive study of infant observation (Esther Bick Method)\, and the practice and study of Jungian child and adolescent analysis. For over ten years Dr. Feldman worked with Jungian child/adolescent analyst Mara Sidoli developing programs in infant observation and child\, adolescent\, and adult analysis in the U.S. and Europe which integrated the Jungian approach with attachment theory and the British school of object relations.  \nDr. Feldman is a senior training analyst for the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts and a member of the Jung Institute of San Francisco. He is currently a visiting professor at the Institute of Psychology\, State Academic University for Humanitarian Sciences (Russian Academy of Science) in Moscow\, and a distinguished visiting professor at the Macao City University. He has been a visiting scholar in the the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics\, the University of Campinas\, Sao Paulo\, Brazil. Dr. Feldman has also served on the teaching faculties of the Northwest Center for Psychoanalysis and the Jung Center of Mexico City. He is a faculty member of the degree program in infant observation in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Dakar\, Senegal.  \nDr. Feldman’s research on infancy and attachment and its impact on development throughout the life cycle was honored by the Psychoanalytic Consortium of Washington\, D.C. in 2013. He has published and lectured extensively in the U.S.\, Latin America\, Europe\, Africa\, Australia\, and Asia.  \nHis published research is in the areas of infant observation; attachment theory; the development of intersubjectivity in infancy and in the analytical relationship\, the psychic skin; organizational development; the impact of culture upon psychological/social/ emotional development\,; child\, adolescent and adult Jungian psychoanalysis – with special interests in the areas of autistic spectrum disorders; identity\, gender\, and sexuality; eating and attention deficit disorders; and disorders of the skin.  \nDr. Feldman is a member of IAAP\, APA\, ISPSO\, NAAP\, the National Register of Health Service Psychologists\, the Jung Institute of San Francisco\, the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts\, the Frances Tustin Trust\, and a training member of the International Association of Infant Observation Esther Bick Method (AIDOBB).  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/2MfZxAP8t6ySezKu8

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 9
DESCRIPTION:In this lecture\, Yasuhiro will mainly refer to two of Jung’s papers\, “Medicine and psychotherapy” (in CW 16) and “The state of psychotherapy today” (in CW 10). As for the current tide of psychotherapy\, a look at the following book is recommended:Layard\, R. & Clark\, M. D. (2014) Thrive: The Power of Evidence-based Psychological Therapies. London: Penguin UK.  \nUK. In the comparison with what is discussed in this book\, we can understand how Jungian psychotherapy deviates from the mainstream in our times. But this could also be a chance for us Jungians today. \nYasuhiro Tanaka \nYasuhiro Tanaka\, Ph.D.\, is a Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Kyoto University. He was trained in the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich and now practices at his private office in Tokyo. SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 8
DESCRIPTION:When there’s a rupture in one’s life\, on both the personal and the collective level\, the haunting question of who we are\, how we see ourselves and what do we believe in\, becomes an often painful struggle with the different worlds within us. \nThe wave of anti-Asian violence in the United States that erupted since the Covid Pandemic\, I had a brief feeling that Asian violence is finally getting the attention needed as had often been minimized. A process for the individual/collective to experience unacknowledged grief\, as to move past racial troubles\, was expressed by Anne Anlin Cheng\, a comparative race scholar at Princeton University\, when she wrote in her book \n\n\n\n\n“The Melancholy of Race”: “we are a nation at ease with grievance but not with grief”. In the short time of this presentation\, I hope to explore the rupture of my identity as “American”\, a still ongoing and evolving process. I hope the experience will increase our consciousness as Anne Anlin Cheng wrote: “how being hated and hating can look the same”. \nChie Lee\nChie Lee was born in Shanghai\, and lived in Macau\, Bangkok and Hong Kong before her immigration to United States in 1969. She settled in Los Angeles where she still lives. Chie received her Diploma in Analytical Psychology in 2000 from the C.G.Jung Institute of Los Angeles. She has been an active member of the Los Angeles Jungian community\, served many years on the Board of Directors\, was President of the Institute from 2010-2012. Chie teaches and supervises in the Analyst Training Program. She has given seminars and published articles on Chinese fairy tale\, movie\, Chinese Avant-Garde Art and the immigrant’s journey of cultural displacement and psychological return.  \n  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/NkQPsoaSnWNpcAoCA

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 6
DESCRIPTION:The lecture intents to explore the rebellion spirit in the Chinese psyche. The Taoist god Nezha and his myth will be used to explore the subject of rebellion from Jungian perspective. The themes of sacrifice and filial piety\, in the Nezha myth\, will be discussed in this lecture to explore the symbolic meaning of the depth of the rebellion meaning in the Chinese collective unconscious.  \nNezha is a wildly worshipped god in Taiwan and South Asian Chinese communities. His history can be traced back to India\, one thousand years ago. The significance of Nezha is related to his myth of god-becoming process. It includes his rebellious character\, self-sacrifice\, death\, rebirth and the determination of father killing. Nezha is an exceptional Chinese myth\, which is not only revealing the cultural attitude of rebellion\, but also suggesting the transformative solution of the conflict.  \nShiuya Sara Liuh (Ph.D.) \nDr. Liuh is a Psychologist\, licensed psychotherapist in Taiwan and IAAP member. She finished Jungian analyst training in ISAP Zurick and present resident in Taipei\, Taiwan. She co-founded Shiuhli Foundation and Shiuhli Psychotherapy Center since 1989\, which offers personal and professional psychotherapy service and training for the big Chinese area. She also has her own private practice in Taipei.  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/hhJMmNYVhJV85RPX9

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 5
DESCRIPTION:The lecture will introduce the concept of the Complex\, that finds its roots in the Experimental Researches on Verbal Association\, at the very beginning of Analytical Psychology. The concept and its developments will be discussed through the work of C.G. Jung and other outstanding Authors\, such as Hans Dieckmann and Donald Kalsched. \nClinical cases showing the dynamics of the complex psyche and their vicissitudes in the analytic encounter will be presented. This will also allow discussion on the countertransference dynamics in the more recent perspectives on the analytic field (Cambray; Hogenson).  \nLuisa Zoppi \nLuisa Zoppi\, born in Rome in 1960\, Psychologist\, PhD in Clinical Psychology\, Analytical Psychologist and training analyst with AIPA. \nLuisa has worked for ten years in the field of empirical research on Psychosomatics\, in collaboration with University of Rome “Sapienza”. The main interest of that work was the relationship between trauma\, emotion processing and physiological functioning of individuals. The more specific focus was the use of Referential Activity as a tool of investigation of emotion processing. Over the years\, Luisa has also given lectures on this subject at University of Rome “Sapienza”. \nLuisa has published -as a co-author- in a number of journals (amongst these are Psychology and Health\, 2001; Psychology\, Health & Medicine\, 2001). Again\, in the field of Psychosomatics\, Luisa has written chapters in collected books: Tra Mente e Corpo (Ed. Luigi Solano\, 2001) and Il Gesto che Racconta (Ed. Donfrancesco A. & Venier M.\, 2007). \nLuisa has lectured for several years on “The Theory of Complexes and Dissociative States of the Mind” at AIPA Training School. Luisa has published on the subject of Complexes and Countertransference in the Journal of Analytical Psychology (“Chilled to the Bone: Embodied Countertransference and Unspoken Traumatic Memories” JAP\, 2017\, Vol.62\, N.5 688-700) and in the Italian Jungian Journal Studi Junghiani (“Il mio difficile incontro con i complessi –My difficult Encounter with Complexes– 2018\, Vol.47-48\, n.7\, 155-161). \nLuisa works as an analyst in private practice in Rome.  \n  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/ZF3h2LngydjXNyW97  \n

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 3
DESCRIPTION:The tendency of today’s psychiatry is to attribute the psychotic process to alteration in the brain’s anatomy\, biochemistry and electrophysiology\, thus exempting the subject\, i.e. the afflicted person\, from responsibility for attachment to reality and their sanity. Jung understood schizophrenia as an ‘abaissement du niveau mental’\, a similar phenomenon to the one encountered in dreams\, and caused by a peculiar ‘faiblesse de la volonté’. He contested that complexes in schizophrenia\, in contrast with neurotic disorders\, are disconnected and can either never reintegrate to the psychic totality or can only join together in remission ‘like a mirror broke into splinters’ (Jung 1939\, para. 507). Accordingly\, a person who does not fight for the supremacy of ego consciousness and has let themselves be swayed by the intrusion of alien contents arising from the unconscious (even to the point of becoming fascinated by regression) is exposed to the danger of schizophrenia.  \nAbramovitch\, Y. (2014)\, Jung’s understanding of schizophrenia: is it still relevant in the ‘era of the brain’?. J Anal Psychol\, 59: 229-244.  \n \nYehuda Abramovitch is a psychiatrist at Beer Yaakov Mental Health Center and at the Department of Psychiatry of the Sackler School of Medicine\, Tel Aviv University. He is a senior analyst with the Israel Institute of Jungian Analysis (IIJP)\, involved in training and teaching. He is co-founder of the Jungian Psychotherapy Program at Bar Ilan University in Israel. He lives and works in Tel Aviv.  \n  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/RXFkrZo56hjnt1BK9  \n

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 2
DESCRIPTION:Neumann is best known for his exploration of the developmental aspect of Jung’s archetypal theory\, especially his work on the “Psychology of the Feminine” and the “Great Mother”. He made use of mythology\, the history of religion\, ethnography\, and ethology to illustrate his theory of “The Origins and History of Consciousness”. Neumann composed penetrating studies on the nature of creativity\, cultural and more sense.  \nNeumann’s importance and breadth of understanding went even further. In the aftermath of the holocaust\, he was the first analytical psychologist to explore shadow and evil in his “ Depth Psychology and A New Ethic”. Neumann in his effort created new terms\, which have entered the basic vocabulary of analytical psychology. His last book “ The Child” is an examination of the structure and dynamic of earliest developments of ego and individuality. At our meeting we will explore Neumann’s basic concepts and more.  \nBatya Brosh Palmoni is a senior Jungian Analyst\, having served two terms on the Executive Committee of the IAAP and chaired the Working Group on Child and Adolescent. She was the convener of the 1st International Conference of Jungian Child and Adolescent Analysis\, in Moscow\, April 2019. Her passion for analytical psychology is reflected in her work as liaison person with the Kiev Developing Group and made multiple visits to teach and supervise in Kiev under extremely challenging conditions. She was one of the main organisers of the highly successful conference on the Jung Neumann Correspondence held in the presence of Jung and Neumann families. Batya is a senior training analyst in Israel Institute of Jung Psychology (IIJP) where she has served on Certifying Board and now the head of the Training Committee. She is also associated with a unique University based three year Jungian training program at Bar Élan University.  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: https://forms.gle/RXFkrZo56hjnt1BK9  \n

SUMMARY:Jung on Saturdays Webinar Series 1
DESCRIPTION:Fathers’ daughters are a varied body of women. For some of us it was father who could make the sun shine\, or father who made us important. For others\, father constituted the total power over the feminine which he assaulted or purged. Common to all of us who are fathers’ daughters is the fact that the image of the father takes up the greatest space in our inner universe. This\, generally speaking\, leads to other patterns of behavior\, and it opens up other doors in the society than those for mothers’ daughters.  \nA father’s daughter can express herself in many different ways\, dependent on how her father has been\, to what she is disposed\, what has been prominent in the culture\, how her own development has been etc. But there seems to be some general archetypal patterns that are seen in myths and fairy tales\, in films\, books\, dramas etc. and in reality. In the presentation\, Misser will try to describe some of these different patterns.  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nMisser Berg \nJungian Analyst member of the Danish Society for Analytical Psychology\, DSAP  \n  \nMisser has served in the IAAP since 2010 where she was elected as a member of the Executive Committee. From 2013 – 2016 she was Honorary Secretary and from 2016 – 2019 Vice President. In 2019 Misser was elected as President-Elect of the IAAP and will be its President from 2022 – 2025. For the last many years\, Misser has been Chair of the IAAP Education Committee which takes care of the Developing Groups and the Routers. In Denmark\, Misser has been President of DSAP from 2000 – 2005 and Director of Training at the Jung Institute in Copenhagen from 2005 – 2019. Misser has a private practice north of Copenhagen.  \nFREE and Exclusive for HKIAP members* \n* With valid membership from April 2021 to March 2022 \nRegistration: tinyurl.com/ypzm7vpd  \n
