In this lecture, Yasuhiro will mainly refer to two of Jung’s papers, “Medicine and psychotherapy” (in CW 16) and “The state of psychotherapy today” (in CW 10). As for the current tide of psychotherapy, a look at the following book is recommended:Layard, R. & Clark, M. D. (2014) Thrive: The Power of Evidence-based Psychological Therapies. London: Penguin UK.
UK. In the comparison with what is discussed in this book, we can understand how Jungian psychotherapy deviates from the mainstream in our times. But this could also be a chance for us Jungians today.
Yasuhiro Tanaka
Yasuhiro Tanaka, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Kyoto University. He was trained in the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich and now practices at his private office in Tokyo. He is a senior analyst for the Association of Jungian Analysts in Japan and now an honorary secretary of the IAAP.
